WTF?!

I stopped working on this blog a long time ago due to the fact that traffic sort of lulled, but returned to find not 100, not 1000, but 1457 hits, with the biggest day being last month, long after the latest post.

It was a bit of a pleasant surprise.

I’m working on pewpewmatic as of today, which explains why I was on my wordpress account checking site stats out of curiosity.

Finally.

100 Visitors

The 100th visitor came through today, and no, I’m not dead, I’ve been waiting for some beta codes by email, which I will give away here, to write my next post about, but they are not here as of yet.

Deepfish Deep-sixed?

So it would seem… It appears that Deepfish, Microsoft Live Labs answer to the iPhone’s full featured browser, is no longer available for download and no longer accepting beta registrations. Given the buggy nature of the latest releases, it bodes poorly, but who know, maybe they’re getting ready for a full release, it’s just not the likeliest of scenarios. Let’s hope Wake3 comes along to save us WM users.

Moto Q10 in ’08?

Apparently so. The Boy Genius Report states that it got some info on the Motorola ’08 lineup from an inside source, the key point for Q fans is as follows: “There will be a 3G QWERTY entry-level smartphone that runs Windows Mobile 6, it might possibly be called the Q10, and it will have a touch screen. The first for a Motorola Windows Mobile device, not counting the ill-fated MPx.”

Also: “One of Motorola’s more high-end phones will feature an NVIDIA chip processor for smooth 3D gaming and video playback. This processor will be superior to the Nokia N95’s ARM 11 processor. This device is said to be their flagship ‘08 model”. That looks intriguing to say the least.

Sleep Well, You Prince Among Consoles…

It’s official, support for the NES console is being terminated by Nintendo, effective October 31st. According to this post, the SNES, n64, Gameboy, and Gameboy Pocket are also having their support discontinued in the near future. Learn to clean your NES like I did in college, it’s the only way to make sure this cowboy doesn’t ride off into the sunset.

/Salute to the NES.

Doing Some Research, Came Upon This…

Via Google Trends.

The orange is iPhone, the yellow is BlackBerry, the green is Smartphone, and the blue is Motorola Q.

The top graph represents total Search Volume on Google.com, the bottom one represents the amount of news content that refrenced those terms.

It’s pretty clear that articles about the iPhone would be the way to go to draw traffic, but I steadfastly refuse to add to the evergrowing flood of iPhone news/content. I think my next piece will be about Ubuntu, but not sure, just thought I’d post this so you can get some grasp of the massive search traffic iPhone gets. Heck, I’ll even tag this post with iPhone to prove my point.

A Reason I Love My Q

It plays SNES games. Try that on your iPhone.

But in all seriousness, this is definitely one of the strong points of the Q, and it’s operating system (Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphones), 3rd party apps are not only supported, but encouraged by the architecture. I mean, why play java-based cell phone games when you can run a SNES off your smartphone?

That’s where PocketSNES comes in, I don’t think just any version will do, it has to be optimized for the Q, which has problems with some standard-compatible WM5 apps. It runs quite a few games (not Final Fantasy 3/6 though 😦 ), mostly at full speed if you disable the sound, which is probably a good idea anyways seeing as how most of the other people in that train car might not quite appreciate the musical stylings of F-Zero, or Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Short set-up guide after the jump.

I changed the settings for comments, they will no longer be put in the moderation queue for being the first comment by a user. Also, I brought over my Rainbow Six: Vegas review from onegameperday and stashed in the articles section, more coming as I track my articles down and reformat them for this site.

Guess what? It’s Blog Action Day (October 15th), and this years topic is the environment.  You might wonder “what the hell is blog action day?”, it’s when thousands of bloggers post about a given topic that day to raise awareness.  I will not likely be doing that, mostly due to the fact that as of writing this, this blog is only 20 minutes or so old.

So, here’s a link to some caring folk who will spell out for you.  I’ll go turn on all my electronics while idling my car as you check it out.
